Fill In The Blank
07:35
|
|||
Thoughts escape through windows
And rattle branches
As they make their way across town
I think of you
And you think of me
The shingles from the neighbor’s roof
All scattered on the lawn
Someone left a giant balloon
Just outside my door
But the card listed a different name
We looked in the glass case
And saw an angry bunny
Formed in the shape of a cookie
I get tired of hearing about medicine
And doctors appointments
And comments about my black shoes
And the cruelty to Hazelnut
Riding in the backseat of the car
As we flee the county
In pursuit of something good
Put your hands on my face
One more time
And I will fill in the blank

Entwine
06:39
|
|||
We all entwine
Coincide
Feeling pressure
To crawl inside
When you talk softly, softly to me
I feel the warmth on my back and
When you speak softly, softly to me
I have a firm understanding and
Ten miles to go
On a winding road
Portend the manner
Elusive code
We stop to ponder
Listen close
We wash our hands
In the mountain stream
Flagrant dream
Mountain stream
Flagrant dream on
Calming ray
Seize on the mockingjay
Stalling far away
Calming the gilded fray
When you talk soft, softly to me
I feel the warmth on my back and
When you speak soft, softly to me
I have wings on my feet
Morning shall come
And we’ll decide
With a foot on the mountain
And fate at our side
We recover
And resolve
To give it away
And with the wind at our back
We sing the song everlasting
And with the wind at our back
We see the daylight contrasting
The theme of a thousand returns
Open, open, open the faint of the sea
Open, please open, open it delicately
Open, open, open this sane fantasy
Open, wide open, open it so consciously
When you talk softly, softly to me
I feel the warmth on my back and
When you speak softly, softly to me
I have wings on my feet
We all entwine
We all entwine
Wait just a minute & turn me around
I recognize the seedlings on this ground
Here on this ground
‘Neath this sound

Tissue Hearts
04:04
|
|||
Fear can be so dark and clever
Like a full eclipse on a starless night
Souls become untethered
And lose their way on this sacred, fragile plight
Coming over to me
Hanging tissue hearts up on the moon
We are so dead serious
We know the fusion is coming soon
Souls can be together
We regain the lost art in everyone
We retain the sunrise & then the stone
We are free to alter our universe
Our greatest enemy is us & us alone
When you circle near me
When you capture all that light
I can’t keep from smiling
Everything just seems so right
Point it out then to me
Pointing out the simple truth
Kindly redirect me
Gently lead me to my youth

State Fair
08:51
|
|||
For so many as
The wheel
The constant turning
We look back
As the skinny bark
The rhythmic trunks of trees
Imagining a sound.
Arrested feet
A breeze like needles
Thoughts like dirty dishwater down the drain.
Hesitating
Until spark plugs start to fire
White exhalations
Filling brittle ears
Soles crushing yellow & grey leaves.
Reeling us in
To the fire behind the wooden door.
Concrete mushrooms tower overhead
I’m not sure what purpose they serve
Dinosaurs are playing rock’n’roll
And getting the adulation they deserve
I spend all day staring at honey
And smiling at people behind masks
The African drummers are playing along with tapes
I answer questions before anyone asks
Out here, you see all kinds
It’s the best the state has to offer
Crawling out from beneath some rock
To consume or to proffer
The carnival rides are mostly empty
Funnel cakes cost an arm and a leg
The high school girl’s writing in her journal
They’re judging which chicken lays the best egg
The heighth of fashion
The need to ration
The freebies the old folks clamor for
They plan all year & travel for miles
To compete in the H of 4
I am here
I guess that makes me one of them
Let the festivities begin
Moving slowly
Wish I could force the hands of time.

Aerosol
04:23
|
|||
Speaking out the confidante’s name
Leaving out the cause & the projected aim
Looking out for the architects of shame
Screening out the full extinguisher of flame
There is nothing more we can tell you
We are floating ‘round the atmosphere and
We are all aerosol
We are all aerosol
We saw the great city fall
We lock together
Long for the other one
We are all aerosol
We are all aerosol
We saw the great city fall
We lock together
Long for the other one
Innocence will chart a path to meet you
We recognize that you were wanting something more
There is nothing more we can tell you
We are floating ‘round the atmosphere and
We are all aerosol
We are all aerosol
We saw the great city fall
We lock together
Long for the other one
We are all aerosol
We are all aerosol
We saw the great city fall
We lock together
Hope for the other one

Just Keep Walking
10:22
|
|||
When we keep walking, the path outta here
When we keep walking, we’ll find our way outta here
When we keep walking, it’s not always clear
But when we keep walking, we’ll find our way outta here
Just keep walking …
When a sad merchant is our last career
When you think you’ve seen it all & there’s nothing more left to fear
When the silver monkey is strapped right to your back
When the thing you hold dear
Is the very thing you lack
Just keep walking
Just keep walking
Can you hear me singing into the night?
Are the lightning bugs blinking that it’s gonna be alright?
You can close your eyes & still have sight
Sending up a prayer like a luminous kite
I’m telling you it’s gonna, gonna be alright
Just keep walking
Just keep walking
When the walls are closing in
When you feel like a stranger
in your own skin
We connect the things we want to
We dissect the meanings of simple words
And we do it all
Just after sunrise
I am not a lone reactor
I whistle a lot
I talk a lot
I don't say anything.
Mouths move
They form the words
Am I just listening?
I think of something
I want to say
In what circumstance
Am I fully me?
When does talk mean something?
Are we trying to form shapes
Out of air?
We can talk about the world
We can move within the world
We imagine it, a magic place to be
We can talk about the world

7. |
||||
Winter skies are low
Summer is the opening
We hope to find
The song heard ‘round the earth
Is a good & calming melody
That’s giving birth
She stands before me
Arms open wide
I fall into her embrace
And go for a ride
Sunlight runs fingers through my hair
A small clustering of clouds is quietly laughing
Oh with leaps & bounds, we clear the fruited plain
And soar above oceans to a brand new domain
No need to punch the clock
The numbers are on holiday
We do what we want to
Choose our own adventure today
Wind it up
Watch it go
I go to bed most nights
With a big smile on my face
Stitching together the memories
We made here in this place
Tomorrow is a friend of mine
She greets me each new morning
Inviting me to something new
Without weakness, without warning
If you’ve got something you want to tell me
Whisper in my ear
There is something beautiful
That is becoming clear
The open door
leads to higher monuments
We circumscribe the meanings
And formulate our own words
We click like magnets
Throwing balls down the hall
Shaking heads at Ricki Bobbie
Making white arms red
We meet beneath a building
In an illegal parking spot
And chart out the course
Of a vehicle we haven’t got
The Civil War soldier
Speaks like an Englishman
Clothes are flying
Let me turn around again

Secret Language
09:13
|
|||
Enigmatic, why so serious?
There’s something happening downtown
It’s quite alright, I’ll go there with you
And level anyone who makes you frown
The way we walk says everything you need to know
The way we talk to each other, only we can know
It’s not my fault that you can’t understand it
To give it a name would limit it so
The secret language
The sweet understanding
Time loses its meaning
And flows into forever
The conversation never ends
We sleep every now & then
Come into the little room with me
Look at me from different angles
Rearrange anything you want to
You know mi casa es su casa too
The secret language
The sweet understanding
Time loses its meaning
And flows into forever
The conversation never ends
We sleep every now & then
We’re making plans
Well into the future
Everyday brings some new revelation
I’m amazed at just how much I’ve grown
Simply the charm
And evidence growing
We walk arm-in-arm

Hand-Me-Down
04:56
|
|||
When the
Fear of television is the
Beacon
To help you make it through the night and
When the
Strength of your revision stills the
Turning
You hate to bottle up inside and
When the
Weight of your condition slows the
Tempting
Of everything you’ve done before and
When the
Verbal malnutrition sets your
Beating heart ablaze …
Streaming down
Tinseltown
Cursed noun
Hand-me-down
When the
Music playing softly is the rhythm
Of dreams you lost 10 years ago and
When the
Howling in the branches is the true love
You sabotaged along the way and
We are
Running in the desert toward the bright lights
Of everything you fought hard for and
We can’t
Wait another minute til the morning
The gilded morning sunrise
Hand-me-down
The crystal gown
Hand me

Believing It All
05:02
|
|||
Versatile morning
Versatile morning all in you see
Begotten warning
Begotten warning ‘til you see the sun
The break of day
Believing it all once again
Love is our children
Love is the music ringing nightly
Forcing dominion
Forcing dominion over our disease
The remnants of ease
Strong abilities
Fine securities
Tumbling over
High & looking down
I know that I am known
Hope is our vision
Hope is our vision all in you see
Clarified mission
Clarified mission to the soul of me

Keep It Open
04:06
|
|||
When your heart is broken
Better keep it open
When your heart is broken
Put it on the line/things will work out fine
I know hysterics
Are not meant for you
I know the barracks
I’ve hidden in them, too
We are not clerics
We’ve both been
Around the world so many times
Yawning and flabbergast-
Ed, limping all the way
Scared it will never last
We count the bodies fast
Riding out like we did before
They say something
will come back to haunt you
But I know that it’s not true
They say
It will come back to bite you
But I know that it’s not true

Front Porch
11:06
|
|||
When I sit on the front porch
I am spinning backwards
And the stars fall down in the sky.
The fireflies blink like Christmas lights
We took pictures in the hotel
I retraced my
Steps just yesterday
I've got a stovepipe hat in one hand
And Chinese food in the other one
The air feels like a jungle
That humidity makes us suffer
The silhouettes of flowers
Beckon quietly.
I really don't know
How to spend my free time.
I don't always have to be creating
But I almost always do
I need permission to not be
Productive.
Think of the reason
For the coming of days
We archers so magnificent
We welcome no delay.
Sing whatever moves you
There’s no need to betray
The vibrant fire within you
The chakra mandalay me down
When I sit on the front porch
I’m spinning backwards
Type out a message to me
Send it through the boiling ether
Shine a secret sign on the moon
Speak your own secret language
When I sit on the front porch
We stood upon the top of the world
We sailed across an ocean
We came out somewhere on the other side
And took an inventory
We laughed until the sun came up
Bring that color vision to me
(No, not just anyone)
Bring that warm provision to me
(You are so beautiful)
Dawn
Breaking dawn
Making strong
The union of everyday
When I sit on the front porch
Count on me in the morning
Count on me in the day
Count on me every evening
Count on me every way
Type out a message to me
In your own secret language

Sympathetic Vibration
14:28
|
|||
Waves all constitute vibration
Threading out the sound
They enter some new portal
And alter the calm interior
The new with the old
Intertwining
I recognize your soul
Wallpaper of words
Comments coalescing
Across a commonplace refrain
The shape & the color
Fitting firmly in my brain
I see with your eyes
I look down and see your hands
I see with your eyes
I look down and see your hands
Your feet lead me to some new interior
And I feel your heart
Tell me where’s the nearest roadside attraction
What’s the greatest thing you bargained for?
I see the music winding into your precious ear
And see your sweet lips smiling
The sky may be a blanket
Of gun-metal grey
But my eyes are full of diamonds
And a vibrant bouquet
Her words linger like a ringing carillon
Rolling through the city, headed my way
Kettle calling
Cattle call
Call of the wild
Calling card
Subharmonics
Submarine
Fully substantial, and
We dance when we want to
If ever there’s a need me
If ever starts to call
You know where you can find me
Gallivant the masquerade ball.
If you decide you’re wanting
Find the meaning in the scrawl
You know where I am hiding
Singing songs in some bathroom stall
Our brand is so electric
I will run but never crawl
Drawing out this complication
Deep inside this concert hall
So full of life
So live your life

Ultimatum

when we think of ultimatum we know
when we think of ultimatum we know
when we think of ultimatum we know
when we think of ulta
when we think of ultimatum we know
when we think of ul-ti-mate
mate-um
mate mate-um
bring the battle, bring it down
solid footprints root the ground
ring or rattle or gilded crown
bring the battle down to earth again
we shall not be forgotten
we pound our chests
we make our own version
of thunder & lightning
Sign over sign
In the sky
See no sign
In the heavens
And we sing
The essence of being
When the rain falls
Cold upon our backs
We come alive
And raise our arms
Up like branches
I hear the soil begin to cry
We are the elements of life
I hear the soil begin to cry
We are the instruments of love
Glory be everybody
Glory be every man
Glory be every woman
Glory be where we stand
Glory be everybody

Swallow The Sun
05:37
|
|||
Goodness me/I’m partly free/verily
Did you see the magic twisting underneath the cherry tree?
When you came/with a name/I’m the same
Data filing, universal, monumental pageantry
The countess cried/the neighbor pried/we reside
Up and down the city streets that lead right to the very core
A slow decline/raucous shrine/earth divine
Never wonder what it is that you are fighting so hard for
Frame by frame/stake your claim/ready aim
Justifying all the beauty that involves your ancestry
“And here you stand no taller
Than the grass sees
And should you really chase so hard”
Make it something
You’ll believe in
The clouds are forming all about your shoulders
Some days don’t feel quite like a miracle
The coffee cup at the short end of a frown
Take the elevator up like Charlie Bucket
And when you’re ready, come back down
I am searching
For another line on grace
You swallow the sun
And illuminate those around you
Oh, you laugh
And rain falls from the sky

Like A Little One
04:48
|
|||
Walk like a little one
Talk like a little one
Now we learn to run
Run like a little one
Stun like a little one
Now we’ve just begun
Shout like a whisper
Smile like a sister
Now we have our fun
Walk like a little one
Talk like a little one
Race off to the sun
We empty out all payments
To the metal cross
We issue our own statements
About our love and loss
Oh the sunlight in your hair
Why don’t you chase me if you dare?
The secret passageway to where
We find the real world opening
And all of it becomes true
We walk in three dimensions
And communicate in four
As we move around the surface
Challenging there’s something more
When we dig down, we hope that we will find
All that gold that fills the heart & mind
Fills your heart & mine

Some Sort Of Miracle
08:47
|
|||
There, in the midst of our resolve
Owing to the grounding evidence
Flowing through the tops of the trees
And lighting firmly on our, on our glowing fingertips
Here, like the song of days gone by
Like the scent of reminiscing, of some warm memory
We don’t really mean to make you cry
But carry on this affinity, this fond delivery
The sun will thaw the bitter lingerings
And raise the gentle spirit like a fog into the sky
We look for greater space to mingle
And see the full reflection shining brighter in your eyes
I have never felt so free
I’ve never felt like walking
Right to the water’s edge and
Sticking my feet in
You say it’s some sort of miracle
I call it being alive
This is some grand adventure
We are meant to survive
Laughter arcs above every mountain
And brings the cooling rain down low
I kiss the ground on which we are standing
And cherish the strong hand that I hold
You say it’s some sort of miracle
I call it being alive
This is some grand adventure
We are meant to survive
